NENO TIME β Anchored in Truth
JESUS WAS BETRAYED!
Jesus had spent three years with His disciples,Β
teaching, training and being a father to them but Β
then He was betrayed by one of the twelve menΒ
who were closest to Him.Β
βAssuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Meβ¦HeΒ
who dipped his hand with Me in the dish will betrayΒ
Meβ¦Then Judasβ¦said, βIs it I?β He said to him, βYouΒ
have said it.ββ Matthew 26:21-25Β
His disciples deserted Him and left Him to sufferΒ
alone. This was written in the Scriptures longΒ
before it happened. But He left them with hopeΒ
that He would not remain dead!
βAll of you will be made to stumble because of Me thisΒ
night, for it is written: βI will strike the Shepherd, and theΒ
sheep of the flock will be scattered.β But after I have beenΒ
raised, I will go before you to Galilee.β Matthew 26:31-32Β
Even Peter, one of the closest three men toΒ
Jesus, was told by Jesus that he would deny HimΒ
three times on this same night.Β
βPeter answered and said to Him, βEven if all are made toΒ
stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.βΒ
Jesus said to Him, βAssuredly I say to you that this night, Β
before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.ββΒ
Matthew 26:33-34Β
This was fulfilled later that night and when PeterΒ
realised what he had done he wept bitterly.Β
When asked if he knew Jesus, Peter responded:Β
1. βWoman, I do not know Him.ββ Luke 22:57Β
2. βAnd after a little while another saw him and said,Β
βYou also are of them.β But Peter said, βMan, I amΒ
not!ββ Luke 22:58Β
3. βThen after about an hour had passed anotherΒ
confidently affirmed, saying, βSurely this fellow alsoΒ
was with Him, for he is a Galilean.β But Peter said,Β
βMan, I do not know what you are saying!β Β
Immediately, while he was still speaking, the roosterΒ
crowed.β Luke 22:59-60Β
βAnd the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Then PeterΒ
remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said toΒ
him, βBefore the rooster crows, you will deny Me threeΒ
times.β So Peter went out and wept bitterly.β Β
Luke 22:61-62
JESUS CHOSE TO DIE TO FOLLOW GODβSΒ
PLAN. HE DID NOT HAVE TO, HE DID ITΒ
FOR YOU!Β
Jesus was troubled about fulfilling GodβsΒ
purpose in dying for the world, but He chose toΒ
anyway. God responded to His prayer with aΒ
voice from heaven saying that God would beΒ
glorified [revealed] by His death!Β
βNow My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? βFather,Β
save Me from this hourβ? But for this purpose I came toΒ
this hour. Father, glorify Your name. Then a voice cameΒ
from heaven, saying, βI have both glorified it and I willΒ
glorify it again.β John 12:27-28Β
On the night before Jesus was killed He prayedΒ
and surrendered Himself to go through withΒ
Godβs plan. There was no other way to saveΒ
mankind!Β
βFather, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me;Β
nevertheless not My will, but Yours be done.β Luke 22:42Β
God, as a man, humbled Himself to die on theΒ
Cross! He did not have to die, He chose to.Β
βAnd being found in appearance as a Man, He humbledΒ
Himself and became obedient to death, even the death ofΒ
the Cross.β Philippians 2:8Β
WHEN IT CAME TIME TO ARREST JESUSΒ
THEY NEEDED A SIGN TO TELL HIMΒ
APART FROM HIS DISCIPLES. HE WASΒ
NOT SOMEONE SPECIAL TO LOOK AT! HEΒ
WAS A NORMAL LOOKING MAN!Β
